Over the past several months, something exciting has been taking shape behind the scenes at the Children’s Discovery Center.

Our team has been working closely with GLTArchitects and Gast Construction to design and plan the future home of the Children’s Discovery Center in downtown Breckenridge. Together, we have been dreaming, brainstorming, and creating a vision for a space that will serve children, families, and our entire region for generations to come.

Today, we are thrilled to share some of our first conceptual renderings and designs with the community. These visuals represent more than walls, exhibits, and floor plans. They reflect a larger vision, a place rooted in play, creativity, learning, and connection. Every corner of the museum is being thoughtfully designed to spark curiosity and imagination while creating opportunities for children to explore the world around them.

From hands-on STEM experiences and nature-inspired play to creative arts spaces and community gathering areas, the museum is being designed to inspire discovery at every age. We envision a space where children can climb, build, create, experiment, perform, and simply be kids.

But this project is also about something even bigger.

The Children’s Discovery Center represents an investment in the future of our rural region. It is about creating opportunities for children and families close to home. It is about revitalizing a long-vacant downtown property and transforming it into a vibrant regional destination. It is about strengthening our local economy, supporting downtown businesses, and creating a place where families gather and communities connect.

At a time when so much of life happens behind screens, communities everywhere are searching for places that bring people together. We believe children’s museums play an increasingly important role in today’s world, offering spaces for hands-on play, creativity, connection, and community.

We are incredibly grateful for the support, encouragement, and momentum this project continues to receive. What began as a grassroots community vision is steadily becoming a reality because of the people who believe in it.

As we move closer toward construction later thi

s summer, we look forward to continuing to share updates, renderings, milestones, and opportunities for the community to be part of this journey.

This is more than a place to play.

It is a project about children. About families. About community. About revitalization. About creating a brighter future for our region.

And we are just getting started.
