This past April, the Children’s Discovery Center hosted its very first community and conversation event—and what a night it was! We were absolutely thrilled to welcome nearly 100 friends, neighbors, and supporters to celebrate the exciting future of our children’s museum. The event was filled with excitement, connection, and a shared passion for rural youth and families, the power of play and helping revitalize a old city building, the Cinema 6 Movie Theater.
The evening was filled with meaningful conversations, a strong sense of community, and truly delicious food. Thanks to the incredible generosity of those who attended, we are proud to share that the event brought in nearly $50,000 to support the development of the museum. These funds are more than just progress toward our fundraising goals, they are a powerful sign of commitment and community support, affirming that the future of this space and the CDC mission holds real value to the people of the community.
To everyone who joined us, thank you for being part of the conversation and seeing value in this project. Your presence and enthusiasm remind us why this project matters. Together, we’re creating a space where curiosity is celebrated, families are welcomed, and kids can dream big.
If you missed it, we missed you! But don’t worry—we’ll be hosting more events in the future. Stay connected with us for announcements, updates, and opportunities to be involved in building something extraordinary for our region’s children.
We want to express our heartfelt thanks to the following people that helped with our community and conversation event:
Kelli Kressin, for creating a stunning charcuterie board that wowed our guests, Minn-Kota Ag Products, for generously sponsoring the food for the event, Tami Sirak, and Morgan Schuler for sharing their beautiful artwork and adding a creative touch to the evening, Steph Mattson, Whitney Peterson, Jeena Kompelien, Alicia Olson,, Ryan Peterson, Wil Schuler, Tyler Woitzel, Josh Deal, George Schuler, Nate Frolek and Adam Brevik. Your dedication behind the scenes helped bring this event to life, and we are so thankful for you.
With gratitude,
The Children’s Discovery Center Team
Kristin Brevik, Beth Deal, Joni Frolek and Madison Yaggie Schuler
